Life with Hope – MA Anthem

I’m sick of suffering
Kicked to death
by a thousand bunnies
Feels like my life is trash
And every day’s the same
Wake and bake
And play another game
Of hide and seek
with my stash

I need some help to clean this mess
Cause I admit I’m powerless

Cause it’s Twelve Steps
And Traditions
To heal my soul’s affliction
I don’t want this addiction
To keep making my decisions
In this final hour
Got me a higher power
A fellow or friend that reminds
That it’s one day at a time

I tried and I tried and tried
My willpower’s all dried up
Stuck living inside
My privately defined world
When I came to the rooms
Was at the end of my rope
But now I’m living
Life with hope

Cause it’s Twelve Steps
And Traditions
To heal my soul’s affliction
I don’t want this addiction
To keep making my decisions
In this final hour
Got me a higher power
A fellow or friend that reminds
That it’s one day at a time

I was a survivor of childhood cancer– a kidney cancer– and my parents were superstitious so they did not tell me about my cancer until my pediatrician shamed them about this when I turned 10, 6 years after my treatment. I did not know…

I have admitted that I am powerless over cocaine, marijuana, my boyfriend and all mind altering drugs.   My life is/was out of control – I couldn’t handle my bills and my relationship with my boyfriend. I was having a hard time getting up for work.  I was becoming co-dependent and resentful…
