My active using compelled me to create a mask or false self. It was a story that I used to separate myself from my friends, family and co-workers. A secret paranoid fantasy of being the center of a plot in a spy novel, I would sneak around to continue to stay high, coming up with more and more ingenious methods for my subterfuge. I was the cosmic exception that proved the rule; however, I was just a powerless fool. Sharing my fears and resentments with my sponsor allowed me to see where these delusions had blocked me from an awakened authenticity in my relationships.
Final thought: I will share my delusions with a sponsor or trusted member, to help me to be the real me.
