“We did not fully trust ourselves, and trusted others even less.”
– Life with Hope, second edition, page 21
Trust has been something I have had a hard time with my entire life. I never fully opened up to anyone and refused to actually let people into my world. When I was smoking, it made it that much harder to trust people. No one was allowed in my world because they could not be trusted with any information. It was only a matter of time before they would use that information against me. For many years, my lack of trust was paranoia from smoking marijuana, but once I finally quit, that paranoia lifted and trust became easier. When I started going to MA, not being able to trust was still with me, but once I finally started opening up with people in the rooms, it became easier to trust others outside of the rooms as well.
Final thought: Trust is hard, but a life without trust is harder.
