“We are transformed from suffering addicts seeking relief from the grip of our disease into people who are able to be ‘happy, joyous, and free’.”
– Life with Hope, first edition, page 63
Upon entering Marijuana Anonymous I listened to others talk about the reality of their using: pain, loneliness and fear. As I grew in the fellowship, I soon heard stories of a very different kind—the reality of sobriety. It is a reality of freedom and happiness, of purpose and direction, and of serenity and peace with the creator, ourselves and others.
When I attend MA meetings, I am reminded of this reality, over and over. I see it in the eyes and hear it in the voices of those around me. As I live the Steps of the MA program I find direction and strength. The joy of Marijuana Anonymous is that this new reality is available to me. As I grow in the fellowship of MA, I see that I was always real. I had just been looking at the outside.
Final thought: Today, I will be grateful that miracles have become everyday reality.

By Ras M. of District 27 I used to smoke to stop time. I just needed a pause – from the oncoming crazy, and my subsequent flooding of anxiety. Of course, there would be the crazy again, 5 hours later. When I stopped smoking, I found it challenging to fill large chunks of time in…
By M. of District 27 For the past 6 years I have struggled to put clean time together, both in and out of the rooms of MA. Every time that April 20th rolls around, I have tried in vain to block out the existence of this once seemingly celebratory day and the memories that it…
Created by Brian B. Published April 2025 As a former U.S. Army military police officer, I learned early on the power of motivation, discipline, and perseverance.
