August 4th – Isolation

The promises of the Twelve Steps come true for me, sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly. I need to work at them, and they don’t all come overnight. With good, orderly direction (GOD) to guide me, I slowly incorporate spiritual principles into my life. These spiritual principles, such as honesty, open-mindedness, and willingness, the HOW of the program, help me become something better.
Before recovery, I isolated, even when around people, and I always spoke whatever was on my mind, never thinking first. By working the Twelve Steps, the promises have come true for me, albeit quite slowly. Ironically, by focusing on myself and growing, I can become more focused on helping others.
Final thought: Today, I can have fewer resentments towards others, and more reasons to appreciate myself.
