“Prayer and meditation are a real source of power and strength in living our program.”
– Life with Hope, first edition, page 56
I found it hard to sit with my thoughts before joining the fellowship. I did not see the point in prayer. My relationship with my Higher Power was nonexistent. I started off feeling uneasy in my body, but slowly came to terms with my emotions. No longer running from them, I am free to tune into my intuition. The endless grasping for more was reduced with every prayer, and now I feel calm as soon as I get on my knees.
The prayers started a dialogue with my Higher Power, and meditation gives me answers. With time to check-in, I am no longer trying to escape from myself. Now, I welcome the routine it gives me. Soon, I find that if I don’t start the day with a prayer, I will feel off. Reaching out guides me to find answers in my life and I become a proactive player. No longer a passenger, I am learning to live fully in the here and now.
Final thought: Today, I will cherish prayer and meditation, and seek my Higher Power’s influence.

Written by, Thia L. I’m an addict. I’m also a “chronic relapser.” Sometimes in meetings I joke that “I’m the poster child to keep coming back.” It’s not really a joke. I’ve been coming back to the rooms over and over for the past 12 and a 1/2 years. I can’t count the number of…
