“Marijuana Anonymous is a fellowship of people who share our experience, strength and hope with each other that we may solve our common problem and help others to recover from marijuana addiction.”
– Preamble, Life with Hope, third edition, page xvii
When I was using, I had withdrawn from people and became isolated; it was a very lonely feeling. I felt as though I needed to protect myself from anyone getting close to me so that I wouldn’t be rejected and hurt. By coming to meetings and listening to other marijuana addicts, I did not feel so alone. I felt accepted and understood. I could learn from others who had similar problems with marijuana. I learned about recovery by listening to experiences that other people in the fellowship were having. With the support that I received, I felt strength from the fellowship. I was able to grow in my recovery. I have made many friends in recovery and enjoy the fellowship that we share.
Final thought: These days I enjoy being “happy, joyous, and free.”
