February 10th – The Emotional Roller-Coaster

February 10th - riding a rollercoaster

“One of the joys of being clean is the return of the full range of human emotions.”

Life with Hope, first edition, page 35

As a marijuana addict, I have experienced mood swings. Incredible joy and happiness can quickly move to utter despair in a matter of moments. Sometimes these quick changes in my emotions can be very confusing. As I gain time in recovery, I spend more time in the world of affairs, spreading my wings, and experiencing life to the fullest. These experiences will no doubt come with the fullness of the human condition; this means there will be experiences that will make me happy and those that will make me incredibly sad.

Also, there are some experiences where I will have to wait and see what happens; sometimes these are the hardest to bear. Today, I will embrace my feelings–—good, bad, or indifferent. I know that these feelings are a gift from my Higher Power as proof positive that I am fully engaged in life, and truly living life on life’s terms.

Final thought: Today, I embrace my emotions. I know that my Higher Power is working in my life today.
