“The power of faith gives our lives a new direction.”
– Life with Hope, first edition, page 13
When I first heard the word “faith” in MA, I was completely broken and believed in nothing, especially not myself. The religious connotations behind the words were all that I noticed and, due to my fractured relationship with organized religion, I recoiled at the very mention of it. Today, I have a much better understanding of what faith means in my life. Having started at a place of self-loathing, paranoia, isolation, and cynicism; I got to sobriety, serenity, and security.
This transformation came about through faith that not only could things get better for me, but most importantly that I deserved them to get better. Today, I have faith in my Higher Power’s guidance and will for me, as well as faith in others. My insecurity has been replaced with self-esteem.
Final thought: Faith rebuilt me from the inside out and gave me back my self-esteem. Today, I am happy just to be me.
