July 2nd – Challenging Stagnation in Recovery

July 2nd - a sprouting leaf

“As we are so often told, recovery is not an event; it is a process.”

Life with Hope, third edition, page 31

When I feel I’m becoming a stagnant stoner in recovery, it may be the quiet voice of my Higher Power telling me that it’s time to explore new opportunities for growth. Volunteering to take on a service position, reaching out to a newcomer I’ve not spoken to before, and going to different meetings are some of the ways I can begin to regenerate the desire to move forward in my program. This feeling of discontent can be transformed today, just as it has in the past, if I allow myself to see the multitude of opportunities before me.

Final thought: Today, I will breathe life back into my recovery by challenging myself to grow.
