July 19th – Humility is Key to Happiness

July 19th - a white pottery heart with the words "i am grateful"

“To be humble is to be genuinely accepting.”

Life with Hope, first edition, page 36

I came into the rooms of Marijuana Anonymous because I felt so hopeless about my life. I could no longer control my marijuana smoking and I knew that I needed help. I knew that I needed support; I could not do this alone. I had to get the courage to say that I was a marijuana addict. I stopped denying my marijuana problem and knew that I had to surrender completely. Addiction, like depression, is a disease and it was necessary for me to admit that I was powerless over my marijuana use.

I learned to have faith in my Higher Power and it is so freeing to turn my life over to my Higher Power. With humility, I have a constant relationship with my Higher Power and the ability to ask for help. Humility is my key to serenity and happiness.

Final thought: I am filled with gratitude for what I have gained in recovery.
