“Our message is one of hope and promise that any addict can stop using marijuana, lose the obsession and desire to do so, and find a new way of life by following spiritual principles one day at a time.”
– Life with Hope, first edition, page 82
Before coming to Marijuana Anonymous, every day was filled with despair and hopelessness. I tried many times to stop using marijuana and could not get through withdrawal symptoms. After praying to my Higher Power for months and witnessing a miracle in someone else’s life, I was curious if my Higher Power could help me make it through withdrawal symptoms and bring me out of intense suffering.
I found Marijuana Anonymous online and reached out in pain and desperation. When I dialed into my first phone meeting, I heard other real people who had gotten through withdrawal and had various lengths of clean time. I heard their obsession had been lifted. Through prayer, the experience, strength, and hope I heard in the meetings, and contact with other marijuana addicts, I not only got through withdrawal, but came to believe I could be restored to sanity. I found a sponsor and started working the Steps.
My experience working the Marijuana Anonymous program has yielded more healing, serenity, and freedom than I could ever have imagined when I was stuck in the depths of using marijuana.
Final thought: Today, I share my message of hope, sobriety, freedom, and healing with others who seek recovery.

By Haley B. I didn’t know what marijuana was until I was in high school. When I learned about it, I was completely against it for many reasons. For one, it was illegal and I was as straight-laced as a 14-year-old could possibly be. Two, it sounded terrifying to lose control of yourself with a…
