August 18th – Forever Grateful

“We have grown free and joyful.”

Life with Hope, third edition, page 45

Living as an addict and living in recovery is as different as night and day. My life as an addict became a descending spiral that entrapped my body, mind, and spirit. Admitting my powerlessness over marijuana and accepting that my life had become unmanageable was essential to being set free of the trap of my addiction. I had been told that the First Step is the only Step that I need to work 100 percent of the time. I was also told that my recovery required that I become honest, open-minded, and willing to in order to reap the numerous benefits of the MA program. My Higher Power, the fellowship and the MA program have set me free. I now try to practice the principles of the program to grow along spiritual lines.

Final thought: I am grateful for the rewards received by practicing the principles of the MA program in my daily affairs.
