“We had to look honestly at our relationship with marijuana and its effect on our lives.”
– Life with Hope, second edition, page 1
I always knew I had a problem with marijuana and that it was detrimental to my life as far back as high school when I became a daily user. I was unwilling to change or give up smoking despite my family’s pleas over the years and even an ultimatum from my partner later in life. Sitting alone in my parent’s living room after a divorce, wondering how I got there, I was able to see the real impact my choices had on my life and the ones I loved. I realized I had chosen marijuana over so many things, including my partner and my marriage. I could be honest with myself and others and accept that it was a problem worth doing something about.
Final thought: When I was able to be honest about my marijuana use and the damage it caused in my life, I was able to move forward and begin the process of recovery.
