“The humility of asking for help keeps us from self-righteousness and protects us against outbreaks of either grandiosity or self-pity.”
– Life with Hope, first edition, page 51
In Step Three, we made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of a Higher Power of our understanding. At this Step, I struggled to understand what it meant to turn my will and my life over to the care of a Higher Power. I was still stuck in patterns of thinking in extremes; it had to be all or nothing, right?
Luckily, my sponsor pointed out that all I was asked to do was to make a decision. I was asked to have faith that a power greater than myself could possibly guide and direct me. I was asked to be empowered to trust in a higher force of energy, purpose, and love that is always streaming through me and around me. I was not asked to submit. I was asked to take action with the gifts my Higher Power had imparted upon me.
I was not expected to be a perfect human being, just one who is willing to connect to new solutions in life. A relationship with a Higher Power is infinitely available to me. I sit in meditation; walk in the woods; and reach out and tune in to the frequency of the source of my Higher Power.
Final thought: Today, I get to actively decide to channel my energy, to learn and grow in a daily relationship to a spiritual connection that speaks the language of my heart and spirit.

Written by, Sashank V. I imagine the brain to be an intricate Rube Goldberg machine, where a tiny stream of water flows over tributaries, spinning little water wheels, and setting tiny parcels afloat or aground based on the tide and logic of the day. Smoking marijuana is like setting a fire hose upon this delicate…
Written by, Ernest F. I remember someone saying to share at a meeting. Someone may be going through what you have been through or have known personally. Victories should be shared even if they are little; it provides others with a sense of looking forward, or hope! Meditation has gotten better for me, I use…
By, Chuck R. A lot of people in other 12 Step programs ask the question, “Why Marijuana Anonymous?” I tell them that for twelve years, I was in and out of AA and NA and could not put together any length of sobriety or stop smoking pot. I tell them that I could stop drinking…
