“Miracles have become everyday reality…God has become a living force in our lives. We have grown free and joyful…Our attitude has turned from denial, defiance, and belligerence to gratitude, humility, and a sincere effort to be of service.”
– Life with Hope, third edition, page 45
There were two things that made me want to come back to meetings when I was newly sober. People kept saying they had a life beyond their wildest dreams – a life without marijuana and with the Promises. Our literature is filled with Promises throughout every Step. The culmination of the Ninth Step Promises, as we know them, gave me so much hope. Today, I’ve worked the Twelve Steps and the Promises have come true for me too.
For nearly 20 years, I smoked weed all day, every day. Today, my life is unrecognizable and is beyond anything I could have dreamed of while in active addiction. I didn’t hit the jackpot, quit my job, and buy a private island. I don’t have to, in order to experience a life beyond my wildest dreams. I have seen everyday miracles, starting with the fact that I don’t need to wake and bake the second my alarm goes off.
I am connected with a positive Higher Power that loves me and wants the best for me. I have experienced joy in ways I never thought possible; a way that no amount of marijuana ever brought into my life. Each day, I’m filled with gratitude and awe. This life is a valuable gift, one that I don’t take for granted. To keep it, I continue to work my own program, and help other marijuana addicts with theirs.
Final thought: Today, I will say thank you to my Higher Power and Marijuana Anonymous for a life beyond my wildest dreams.
