“Step One: We admitted we were powerless over marijuana, that our lives had become unmanageable.”
– Life with Hope, first edition, page 1
I came into Marijuana Anonymous when I realized I could not control or stop using marijuana; however, Step One asked me to say my life was unmanageable. I was functioning, had a good job, was supporting myself; I was even being an active parent and community member. When I looked up the word unmanageable I found it means “difficult or impossible to control or manage.” This allowed me to identify and say Step One honestly and start my journey in MA.
Final thought: Today, regardless if I am at day one or day 5000, reflecting on how my life is unmanageable, I know that a Higher Power of my understanding will help me do what I cannot do alone.

Written by, Dave K. I have always had difficulty understanding how and why people don’t do a lot of what feels good. In other words, when I first began smoking pot, it felt very good, so I did it a lot. Sex is the same thing. It feels good, so I do it – and…

Written By, Kristen J Dear Marijuana, I know I’m a little late here. And as I continue these ongoing efforts of prying myself from your shackles, I know that I can say “goodbye” to the belief that you are the only one who can embrace and comfort me. I can do that for myself now;…
