“Each day we must do something to enhance our spiritual program. Our recovery depends on it.”
– Life with Hope first edition, page 50
I do not know God’s will for me, it remains a beautiful mystery. I know that each and every day I can continue to open my heart, mind, and spirit to what that path is. In order to persevere in my recovery on a daily basis, I continue to ask for help and guidance from my Higher Power and mentors, turn my will over to the care and direction of God, and practice spiritual principles in all areas of my life.
I continue to have honest self-inquiry, humbly asking for the removal of my shortcomings, weed the garden, plant more seeds by which to grow spiritually, emotionally, and to work towards being the best person I can be. I disrupt patterns that no longer serve myself or others, admit when I am wrong, and am of service and help others to the best of my ability.
I long to be an instrument of peace and compassion, placing others before me, and doing what I can to alleviate suffering and cultivate happiness and love. I grow my spiritual practice through prayer, meditation, mantra, and practicing spiritual principles. I keep it simple, taking deep breaths, and let it go and give it to God.
I try to be present, open-minded, humble and teachable, to maintain a beginner’s mind, practice gratitude, seek and practice new ways of spiritual development and study, and practice quieting my mind. I practice forgiveness, kindness and generosity, and keep asking for guidance. When intuitive answers come, listen, and have faith in the divine design of life.
I want always to have an open mind and hopeful heart, and remember that God loves me and wants me to be happy and fulfilled.
Final thought: I will continue to grow in my recovery, live in the sunlight of the spirit, and give away what continues to be so generously given to me.
